Short interview with our dual student Annika Böhme

Dear Annika, please introduce yourself briefly and tell us how you came to work for Reclay…

Hello, I’m Annika Böhme and I’m part of the Reclay Group as a working student “Junior Consultant” as part of my studies. When I completed my bachelor’s degree in food technology, my first application went directly to Reclay. Here I immediately saw the opportunity to put my affinity for packaging, environmental and sustainability issues into practice professionally. This was my dream, as these also play a very big role in my private life: Food Sharing & Saving, reusable packaging, material selection of my packaging, etc. And indeed, at the time of the application phase, there was a suitable job available as a working student of economics in the consulting team. In short: a mixture of personal initiative, coincidence, mission and perhaps a bit of fate.

How can one imagine your current job as a working student?

I work 20 hours a week. Officially, I work at the Cologne site, but I operate throughout the entire Reclay Group network. In close cooperation with colleagues from Herborn and Vienna, I conduct research in a European context for various customer orders, contribute to the creation of reports, take care of the internal knowledge organization, carry out correction work on finished reports, independently evaluate databases for the internal knowledge pool, and so on. Due to the wide variety of customer orders, every week is new and holds exciting challenges and tasks.

And can you combine all this with your studies?

Good question! I believe that proper time management makes both professional and academic success possible. It’s important to make a plan and organize an eight-hour workday well for yourself. I recommend 1-2 set office days per week to create some structure and help you follow your study schedule. Since each semester is usually different, changes to the schedule and work hours are necessary. However, this is not a problem at Reclay, as the working hours can always be flexibly agreed upon and arranged. This flexibility definitely makes it easy to combine work with studies.

What makes Reclay stand out for you?

“Teamwork makes the dream work”

Cohesion, attentive listening, working together on customer orders, exchanging information and general support in many ways lead to the success that the Reclay Group can boast. It is the people and their close cooperation that make Reclay’s corporate culture unique!
