Dear Olimpia, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and describe what you have experienced in your training with us so far.

With pleasure! My name is Olimpia, I am 20 years old and have been living in Germany for eight years. I have been training as an office management assistant at the Reclay Group since August 2019. Before that, I successfully completed my vocational baccalaureate.

During my training period so far, I have already got to know 4 out of 5 departments. First, I was in sales for six months and was able to get to know customer acquisition and customer care in more detail. Next, I moved to our office team for seven months and was in charge of mail, customer reception and general organization such as hotel and flight bookings or looking after the vehicle pool. At the moment, I am in the “Disposal/Purchasing” department, where I have been supporting the team for almost a year now. My main tasks here include invoice verification and day-to-day support for my colleagues in their day-to-day business.

I was also able to gain initial insights into the finance department at our Herborn site. In addition to the official part, I have also experienced many other exciting things at Reclay. These include our many celebrations, birthdays or activities such as a team event or exciting kick-off events.

How did you find out about training at the Reclay Group?

I saw the job advertisement on indeed.com and took a closer look at the company profile there and the homepage in the next step. The industry was new to me, but it seemed quite versatile and exciting. Since I was looking for a secure training position, I then applied directly and quickly.

We are in an extraordinary time right now, especially for young people. How did you feel about the Corona pandemic during your training so far?

That’s right. The Corona pandemic was and still is a special time. For me, this was especially noticeable due to the daily commute to Cologne. Suddenly, a large part of the connections in the direction of Cologne were cancelled and my commute time almost doubled. Here, working in a home office helped me a lot. It was a completely new situation for everyone, but we’ve come to terms with it really well by now.

Do you have any tips for prospective applicants? What helped you make the decision back then?

Definitely! Just be yourself and try to relax. Your counterpart is only human and has been in your place before.

I made the decision for this training position based on a “good gut feeling. I simply felt it was right to choose Reclay and have not regretted it since.
