Redual GmbH is a dual system pursuant to § 6 section 3 of the German Packaging Ordinance. As an alternative to the dual systems already in existence, Redual GmbH was established within a short time in all 16 German states and has been operating on behalf of its customers throughout Germany since early 2008. It is now the third largest system operator in Germany. The Reclay Group launched Redual in response to customer demand for combining industry know-how and expertise to find inexpensive and efficient solutions above and beyond the former monopoly centred on the Green Dot.

According to § 6 sections 1, 2, manufacturers and distributors are obliged to take back packaging that they have put into circulation and subsequently ensure recycling. Companies can be released from these obligations if they register their packaging with a dual system. Companies from trade and industry conclude contracts with Redual GmbH which release them from their return and recycling responsibilities.
